BLOOMINGTON, IL. — Men's Tennis hit the road this Saturday to take on Illinois Wesleyan and grabbed a 9-0 win in what was their fourth conference match of the year. Today's win improves the Firebird's overall record to 6-5, and 3-1 in conference play.

The match began with an 8-2 win on court three from the duo of John Nykyforuk and Andre Antreassian. Back on court two, Cooper Ferruzzi and Kevin Dunn would win their set 8-4, while Nicolas Welker and Matt Krzewinski would close things out with an 8-6 win over on court one.

Nicolas Welker set the pace for the Firebirds as he opened singles play with a 6-2, 6-4 win over his opponent on court one. Cooper Ferruzzi followed suit and grabbed a 6-4, 3-6, 6-2 win on court three. On court two, Matt Krzewinski pulled off a close 6-3, 2-6, 7-6 (0) victory for Carthage, while Andre Antreassian picked up a 6-2, 6-0 dub on court five. Chris Mitev won court four 1-6, 7-5, 1-0 (6), and Hayden Friese wrapped up the match with his 6-1, 3-0 default win on court six.

Carthage faces Wheaton College for their next CCIW match next Thursday, April 15. The Thunder are currently 3-2 overall and 1-0 in conference play.
