KENOSHA, Wis. — Carthage men's tennis picked up an 8-1 victory over Carroll University this Friday as they hosted their second CCIW match of the season at Life Sport Athletic Club in Kenosha, Wisconsin. Today's win marked the Firebirds first conference win of the season, and improved their overall record to 3-5.  

The Firebirds started off hot in doubles play as they swept all three courts, beginning with an 8-2 win on court one from Tripp Schulte and Nicolas Welker. Matt Krzewinski and Cooper Ferruzzi also had an 8-2 win on court three, while Kevin Dunn and Patrick Anderson closed out doubles play on court two with an 8-1 dub.

Chris Mitev started singles play by sweeping his sets 6-0, 6-0 on court six. Cooper Ferruzzi won court three 6-1, 6-1, and Hayden Friese grabbed a 6-0, 6-1 win himself over on court five. Andre Antreassian picked up a 6-1, 6-1 win on court four, and Matt Krzewinski won 6-2, 6-3 on court two. The only loss of the day would come with the last set in singles play on a heated 13-11 tiebreaker.

"Real Proud of how we went about our business tonight," said head coach Brady Lindsley. "From top to bottom we played very focused and determined tennis."

The Firebirds play Wisconsin-La Crosse this Sunday, March 28th at the Lake Geneva Tennis Club in Lake Geneva, Wisconsin.
