RACINE, Wis. — Women's Tennis grabbed a 6-3 win over Illinois Wesleyan University in their second CCIW match of the year this Saturday, March 20. The match took place at Life Sport Athletic Club in Racine, Wisconsin.

The Firebirds started the match by going undefeated in doubles play, beginning with a 8-2 win on court three by the freshmen duo Stephanie Yerges and Kenna Beth. Sierra Sonnemaker and Faelan O'Shaughnessy grabbed an 8-3 victory on court two, while Sam Ramsey and Rachel Anderson finished with an 8-6 win of their own on court one.

Sierra Sonnemaker won court three 6-1, 6-2 to begin singles play. Sam Ramsey won her sets 6-2, 6-3 on court one, and Cailida Werner took court six 3-6, 6-1, (10-7) to seal the win for the Firebirds. This win today improves Carthage's overall record to 2-2 for the year, and 1-1 in conference play.

"I'm really proud of the way the girls played today," said head coach Brady Lindsley. "They had a great attitude and worked really hard. We won a very good match 6-3, and I'm really proud of the effort. We're looking forward to next week."

Carthage hosts their third CCIW match next Saturday, March 27 at 3 P.M. against Wheaton College which will again be held at Life Sport Athletic Club in Racine, Wisconsin.
