Firebirds Conclude CCIW Cup

KENOSHA, Wis. — The Carthage College women's swimming and diving team finished the Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin (CCIW) Cup Series on Saturday at Koenitzer Aquatic Center.

The CCIW Cup was hosted on Saturday at Carthage (Carthage and Augustana) and Wheaton (Wheaton, Illinois Wesleyan, and North Central). On Friday Millikin and Carroll competed at Carthage. Results from each event have been merged to compile a leaderboard for the event.

Carthage had seven top-five times in the events as Jordyn Bloode posted the third-fastest time in the 500-yard freestyle and fourth-fastest in the 200-yard freestyle. Elise Merucci came away with clocked a time of 1:00.47 in the 100-yard butterfly while in diving events, Patricia Banasik scored a 267.65 in the one-meter diving competition.

Bloode was also a member of the 200-yard medley relay with swimmers Kaitlyn Fogo, Elise Merucci, and Izzy Bertaud that clocked a third-best time of 1:51.63 in the 200-yard medley relay. Jordyn Kaplan, Signe Hauck, Merucci, and Bertaud came away with fifth-best in the 200-yard freestyle. Collecting a time of 3:41.53 in the 400-yard freestyle relay, was the team of Ashleigh Espinoza, Bloode, Bertaud, and Merucci.

Two Firebirds seniors were recognized yesterday: Sydney Feenstra and Allison Marsh.
