KENOSHA, Wis. — The Carthage College women's swimming and diving won the Carthage Classic Invitational finishing the three-day meet with 2,500.50 team points.
The Firebirds won five relay races during the three days taking first in the 800-yard freestyle relay with swimmers
Jordyn Bloode,
Ashleigh Espinoza,
Elise Merucci, and
Allison Vassilakos with a time of 7:55.40. Bloode, Vassilakos, Espinoza, and
Grace Norman were also swimmers in the 400-yard medley relay with a winning time of 4:00.28.
Maria Gutzweiler,
Izzy Bertaud,
Kaitlyn Fogo and Vassilakos took first in the 200-yard freestyle relay while Gutzweiler,
Jordyn Kaplan, Norman and Bertaud won the 200-yard medley relay (1:49.41). Bloode, Bertaud, Espinoza, and Vassilakos concluded the meet with a win in the 400-yard freestyle relay (3:37.63).
Individually, sophomore
Allison Vassilakos collected three top-three finishes during the meet. The freshman placed third in the 1650-yard and 500-yard freestyle while coming in second in the 200-yard freestyle.
Freshman
Maria Gutzweiler clocked a second-place time of 24.77 in the 50-yard freestyle while Espinoza registered third in the 200-yard breaststroke (2:31.58).
Senior
Jordyn Bloode won two events; the 200-yard backstroke (2:07.69) and the 400-yard individual medley (4:39.40).
