NORMAL, Ill. — The Carthage women's tennis team dominated their match this Saturday evening against conference opponent Illinois Wesleyan University. The Firebirds (5-2) ended the match 8-1 against the Titans, sweeping every singles court and dropping just one match in doubles.

Giana Apostoli and Sam Ramsey opened the day with an 8-3 win over the home team on doubles court no. 1. Giovanna Mendes and Rachel Anderson would pick up an 8-6 win on court three before court two would fall to the Titans.

The Firebirds swept every court in singles play, beginning with a commanding 6-1, 6-0 win on court two from Sam Ramsey. Freshman Maddie Kearney won court six 6-3, 6-2, before Giovanna Mendes followed with a 6-2, 6-1 win on court no. 5. Luana Da Silva finished court three 6-3, 6-2 before Sierra Sonnemaker closed out the match on court four 6-0, 6-3 to give Carthage the 8-1 win for the day.

The Firebirds take on North Central College next Saturday, October 16th at Nike Park in Naperville, Ill with a start time of 10 A.M.
