DECATUR, Ill. — The Carthage women's tennis team fell 5-4 this Friday to the Millikin Big Blue in their sixth conference match of the season. The Firebirds now sit at a record of 4-2 for the year.

Carthage got off to a great start in doubles play as the first court of the day was won 8-5 by Giana Apostoli and Sam Ramsey. Giovanna Mendes and Rachel Anderson would win court no. 3, before court two fell to the Big Blue.

Singles began with two losses on courts two and three, before Sierra Sonnemaker claimed a 6-4, 7-5 victory on court no. 4. Apostoli would breeze through the first court 6-1, 6-2 before the remaining two courts went to the home team to give Millikin the 5-4 advantage for the match.

The Firebirds are back in action tomorrow morning as they head to Illinois Wesleyan University for their seventh conference dual match of the year with a start time of 10 A.M.
