KENOSHA, Wis. — The Carthage women's tennis team picked up their fourth conference win of the season this Tuesday afternoon after sweeping the visiting Elmhurst Bluejays 9-0. 

Giana Apostoli and Sam Ramsey set the pace for the Firebirds (4-1) in doubles action with a commanding 8-1 win on court no. 1. Rachel Anderson and Giovanna Mendes followed with an 8-3 win on court three, before the freshman pair Luana Da Silva and Sasha Manojlovic closed out 8-3 on court no. 2.

Apostoli opened up singles play by easily sweeping the first court 6-0, 6-0 before Sierra Sonnemaker claimed the no. 4 court 6-1, 6-0. Giovanna Mendes would win 6-2, 6-0 on court five, while Rachel Anderson would take court three 6-0, 6-3. Freshman Maddie Kearney beat her opponent 6-2, 6-0 on court no. 6 before Luana Da Silva won court six 6-3, 6-4 to give the Firebirds the sweep.

Carthage heads to Millikin University this Friday, October 8th for their sixth conference dual match of the year. The match is scheduled to begin at 2 P.M. in Decatur, Ill.
