Firebirds Begin the Season with Third-Place Finish at Augsburg University Invitational

MINNEAPOLIS — The Carthage College women's swimming and diving team began the season with a third-place finish at the Augsburg University Invitational. The team collected a total score of 450, 44 points shy of first place Carleton College.

The Firebirds collected four individual first-place victories on the day as Jordyn Bloode won the 1000-yard freestyle, Signe Hauck took the 100-yard freestyle, Abigail Barnes won the 200-yard backstroke and Allison Vassilakos claimed the 500-yard freestyle.

The relay team of Izzy Bertaud, Hauck, Elise Merucci, and Maria Gutzweiler won the 200-yard freestyle with a time of 1:43.19.

Carthage returns home to face Lake Forest on Saturday, October 30 at noon.
