KENOSHA, Wis. — The Carthage College men's track and field team hosted the final meet of the 2020 indoor season, as they participated in the Carthage Final Qualifier on Friday at the Tarble Athletic and Recreation Center.

"It was a good way to close off the indoor season for the majority of the team," said head coach Josh Henry. "We saw several personal bests in multiple event areas, and are poised for a great outdoor season."

The day began with freshman Mason Tucker winning his heat in the 55-meter dash, placing fourth overall with a time of 6.75 seconds and leading all collegiate participants. In the 55-meter hurdles, Alassane Guisse placed fourth while setting a new PR after crossing the finish line in 8.34 seconds.

Sophomore Cody Canegan set a pair of personal marks today, first in the 400 with a time of 50.76 seconds after taking first place, before clocking a 23.12 in the 200 and taking second place. In the 3,000, Thomas Olenek was first to finish after topping the nine-minute mark for the first time and setting a new PR of 8:59.38, while Justin Corrigan set a career best with a fourth-place time of 9:35.68.

After claiming the conference title last week, Aaron Austin took third today in the shot put on a toss of 15.64 meters. The junior then set a personal mark in the weight throw, crossing the 18-meter mark for the first time in his career at 18.05 meters and claiming first place. Nate Meador would take third with a toss of 16.31 meters, while Matthew Ausse set a PR and took sixth with a throw of 16.27 meters. Freshman Alex Jarvis would finish things up in the field events after setting a PR in the triple jump, clearing 13.95 meters and taking second place.

"Aaron improved upon his national standing in the weight throw," said Henry. "We are optimistic he will qualify for the national meet this Sunday in both the shot put and weight throw."
