ALTAMONTE SPRINGS, Fla. — In day two of their spring break trip, the Carthage men's tennis team took down Hampden-Sydney 6-3 at the Sanlando Tennis Center before blanking Piedmont 9-0 later in the evening at the USTA National Campus on Tuesday.

"The men had a very good day today," said head coach Brady Lindsley. "They played very hard and beat two very good teams."

In their first match of the day, the Red Men (8-5) picked up the first doubles court win against Hampden-Sydney (1-5) as Hayden Friese and John Nykyforuk won 8-0. While Yanozie Amadike and John Krzewinski defeated their opponents at court two next 8-5, Hampden-Sydney would win at court one, giving Carthage a 2-1 advantage headed into singles.

At court five, Andre Antreassian picked up a quick 6-1, 6-0 victory before Nykyforuk won his match at court six 6-2, 6-2. The Red Men would clinch the dual match win at court two as Amadike won 6-2, 6-3. At court one, Daniel Moore would win his match to give Carthage their sixth point over Hampden-Sydney.

Over at the USTA National Campus, the Red Men swept the doubles as they won 8-4 at court one, 8-3 at court two, and 8-6 at court three to take an early 3-0 lead on Piedmont (5-7). After a 6-1, 6-1 win at court five by Antreassian, Friese clinched the match victory for Carthage at court six, defeating his opponent 6-0, 6-2. The Red Men would go on to claim the top four remaining courts in singles to complete the sweep.
