Freshmen Guide Red Men Over Hanover 15-7

Box Score LAKE BARRINGTON, Ill. — The Carthage College men's lacrosse team remained undefeated, as they took down Hanover College 15-7 at the Canlan Sportsplex in Lake Barrington, Ill. on Friday.

The Panthers (1-2) were first on the board, as they jumped out to a 3-0 lead on the Red Men (4-0). While Joe Poremba would find freshman William Clemens for the score, two more goals from Hanover would make it a 5-1 game. However, Carthage would score five unanswered to end the first quarter, with Max Schwartz starting it off before Noah Lindner and Colin Poitras put the Red Men out in front 6-5.

Freshman Ryan Foley opened up the second period of play with a score before Poitras found Clemens for his second score of the contest. After the Panthers responded with a goal, Clemens would find the back of the net two more times before halftime, setting the score at 10-6.

While Hanover was first to score in the second half, the Red Men would hold on to their lead for the victory, scoring the final five goals of the day. After Carthage took a seven-goal lead into the final frame, they would add one more in the fourth quarter to go on and win by a final tally of 15-7.

The Red Men will travel south for spring break next, beginning with a game against Birmingham-Southern College on Sunday, March 8 at 1 p.m.
