Red Men Defend Home Courts with 7-2 Win Over Illinois Tech

KENOSHA, Wis. — The Carthage College men's tennis team hosted Illinois Tech on Friday afternoon at the Life Sport Athletic Club, defeating them 7-2.

"The boys played really well today," said head coach Brady Lindsley. "It started with good energy in doubles and carried through the singles. Overall, just a really solid team win."

While the visitors would claim the first point with a court two win in doubles, Daniel Moore and Andre Antreassian would tie it up with an 8-3 win at the lead court. The Red Men (5-2) would claim the lead headed into singles as Hayden Friese and Patrick Anderson picked up an 8-5 win at court three.

Carthage would pick up their first point in singles on a win by Tripp Schulte at court three, with freshman Yanozie Amadike clinching the match win on a 6-4, 6-3 win at court two. On court one, Moore took down his opponent in straight sets 6-2, 6-3, as Matt Krzewinski and John Nykyforuk followed suit at courts five and six, respectively. With a win by the Scarlet Hawks at court four, the final score would be set at 7-2 in favor of the Red Men.

Carthage will be back in action tomorrow, February 22, as they hit the road to take on Wisconsin-Whitewater at 1 p.m.
