Red Men and Lady Reds Win at CCIW Diving Championships

BLOOMINGTON, Ill. – The Carthage College men's and women's diving team participated in the 2020 College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin Diving Championships held on Saturday afternoon at Fort Natatorium.

Trisha Garcia tallied a pair of first place wins for the Lady Reds on the day while Connor Pierson also registered two first place finishes for the Red Men. Garcia and Pierson both secured the CCIW Championship titles.

Garcia took first in the one meter diving event with a score of 424.35 while Julia Cozzi finished 5.45 points behind Garcia for second with a score of 418.90.

In the women's three meter diving event, Garcia and Cozzi came in first and second with scores of 433.30 and 429.70.

Pierson won the one and three meter diving events collecting scores of 442.50 and 463.05 respectively.

Each diver had lifetime bests for 11 dives in the three meter while all three divers qualified for the NCAA Regionals on both boards.

The men's and women's swimming squads begin the three day CCIW Championships starting on Thursday, February 20 with the prelims beginning at 10:30 a.m.
