9/25/2019 7:07:00 PM

NAPERVILLE, Ill. -- The Carthage College women's tennis team fell in a 6-3 match to conference-foe North Central Wednesday afternoon at Nike Park.

"The match was lost in doubles today," said head coach Brady Lindsley. "We tried to battle back in singles but dug ourselves into a bit of a hole."

The home team claimed all three doubles matches to take an early lead on Carthage (1-2, 1-2 CCIW), before winning the first singles match to finish at court four. The Lady Reds would get a win on court two from freshman Jen Ptak by a score of 6-2, 6-1, with Sam Ramsey making it a 4-2 game after winning her match at court three 6-1, 7-5.

The Cardinals (7-1, 5-1 CCIW) clinched the match win after scoring their fifth point at court one, with the two teams splitting the final two singles matchups, as Nia Pham picked up a 6-3, 6-3 victory on court five.

The Lady Reds will take a week off before hosting North Park University on Wednesday, October 2 at 4 p.m. at the Smeds Tennis Center.
