KENOSHA, WIS.—The Carthage College men's & women's track & field squads are set to host the 2019 College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin (CCIW) Outdoor Track & Field Championship at Art Keller Field on Friday, May 3 – Saturday, May 4 for 10:00 a.m. start times. The Red Men and Lady Reds will be hosting their first CCIW Outdoor Track & Field Championship since 2009.
 
The Red Men are in pursuit of their first CCIW Outdoor Championship in school history, while the Lady Reds eye their first since 2005. Both teams are a step close to those goals as they each sit in first place after the discus and hammer throw potions of the event that were held at North Central College (Ill.) today due to poor field conditions at Carthage. The Red Men have 27 points, while the Lady Reds carry 26 points.
 
Aaron Austin set the tone for the Red Men with the CCIW Outdoor Discus Championship with a toss of 48.22m. Austin followed that with a third-place toss of 49.11m in the hammer throw.
 
On the women's side, Sarah Schmidt claimed the discus championship when she eclipsed a 41.76m. Elizabeth Willis followed in third place with a 38.93m. Schmidt continued to rake in the medals for the Lady Reds with a second-place mark of 51.08m in the hammer throw.
