Red Men Impress at Wheaton College Invitational

WHEATON, ILL.—The Carthage College men's track & field team embarked on the Wheaton College Invitational at McCully Stadium in Wheaton, Illinois on Saturday, where they tallied sixth place out of 15 teams with 61 points. North Central College (Ill.) took first place with a 191.
 
Isaiah Brown commanded the Red Men jumpers, as he posted third-place in the long jump with a 6.40m. Aaron Austin kept the third-place trend alive in the hammer throw, where he registered a toss of 48.97m. Nate Meador (46.29m), Caleb Hays (44.02m) and Diego Torrez (42.47m) all followed Austin in the hammer throw. Austin built on that performance when he took second place in the discus with a 44.49m.
 
Hays paced the Red Men with a fifth-place mark of 13.89m in the shot put, while Austin followed in sixth place with a 13.70m. The javelin was all Connor Bell, who took fourth place with a 45.42m.
 
Leading the mid-distance group was Dane Rasmussen, who registered a fifth-place time of 50.28 in the 400 meter dash. Camren Howard commanded the distance group in the 1500 meter run, where he crossed the finish line at 4:02.66 en route to seventh place. Logan Engberg followed Howard with an eighth-place time of 4:02.84. Thomas Olenek kept the seventh-place trend going for the Red Men in the 5000 meter run, where he notched a 15:47.45.
 
The 4x400 meter relay squad of Dante Graham, Ronny Onano, Juan Sanchez and Quade Kayle got their first taste of outdoor competition with a sixth-place time of 3:27.89.  
 
The Red Men will compete in the Benedictine University Relays on Friday, April 12 – Saturday, April 13 at the Village of Lisle-Benedictine University Sports Complex in Lisle, Illinois. Friday's start time is set for 12:00 p.m., followed by Saturday's festivities at 10:00 a.m.
