Red Men Too Much For Titans in 9-0 Thrashing

BLOOMINGTON, ILL.—The Carthage College men's tennis team made the quick-turnaround from a heartbreaking 5-4 loss to Millikin for a Saturday-morning battle with Illinois Wesleyan University at the Beadles Morse Courts in Bloomington, Illinois. The Red Men kept their heads high with a 9-0 thrashing over the Titans.
 
The Red Men improve to 13-5, 2-1 CCIW while Illinois Wesleyan falls to 2-7, 0-4 CCIW.

The Red Men shuffled the deck with their doubles lineup, where Tripp Schulte/John Nykyforuk posted an 8-7 win over Ryan Yoo/Demetrios Triantafel in the #1 flight. Daniel Moore/Matt Krzewinski competed together in #2 doubles and posted an 8-3 decision over Justin Piotrowski/Tim Hughes. Andre Antreassian/Fordy Leipold converted a convincing 8-1 win over Cole Hundman/Michael Behrensmeyer in the #3 flight.
 
Kevin Dunn highlighted the singles portion for Carthage, where he tallied a 6-0, 6-0 win over Cole Hundman in the #6 slot. Antreassian, who played #3 singles, posted a 6-4, 6-1 win over Justin Piotrowski. Krzewinski continued to show he's one of the most reliable #5 players in NCAA Division III with a 6-1, 6-0 win over Behrensmeyer. John Nykyforuk tallied a 6-3, 6-2 win over Tim Hughes in #4 singles, while Daniel Moore locked down the #1 slot with a 6-3, 6-4 win over Triantafel. Schulte posted a 4-6, 6-2, 10-8 nail-bitting victory over Yoo in #2 singles.
 
The Red Men will host North Central College (Ill.) at the Smeds Tennis Center on Friday, April 12 at 3:00 p.m.
