UW-LA CROSSE PHIL ESTEN CHALLENGE RESULTS
AUGUSTANA MEET OF CHAMPIONS RESULTS
ROCK ISLAND, ILL.—The Carthage College men's track & field team had select members compete in the Augustana College Meet of Champions in Rock Island, Illinois, while a handful embarked on the UW-La Crosse Phil Esten Challenge in La Crosse, Wisconsin on Friday.
The 10000 meter run field at UW-La Crosse had senior
Logan Engberg licking his chops as he shattered the school record with a time of 30:33.90, which broke 2017 Carthage Hall of Fame Inductee Glen Schumacher's 43-year record of 30:55.64 accomplished in 1976. Engberg, who's perpetually improved throughout his four-years with the Red Men, also owns the indoor 5,000 meter run school record (14:52.57). Engberg's time on Friday put him in fourth place out of 37 competitors.
Camren Howard joined Engberg at UW-La Crosse and registered a third-place time of 1:53.61 in the 800 meter run. Carthage finished the UW-La Crosse Phil Esten Challenege in 14
th place out of 20 teams with 11 points.
Carthage claimed 10
th place with 20 points at the Augustana Meet of Champions, where
Aaron Austin commanded the squad with a 50.35m in the discus, good enough for third place. The decathlon resulted in a fifth-place finish for
Connor Bell (5243 points).
The Red Men will return to competition on Saturday, April 27 at the UW-Whitewater Drake Alternative in Whitewater, Wisconsin at 10:30 a.m.
