WAUKESHA, WIS.—The Carthage College men's track & field team competed at the Carroll University Alumni Open on Saturday afternoon, where they were originally slated to compete at the Benedictine Relays before backing out due to scheduling conflicts. The Red Men prevailed with a second-place standing out of 12 teams with 129 points. Carroll University claimed the team championship with 146.50 points.

The Red Men stepped up their mid-distance game, thanks to Dane Rasmussen's second-place time of 51.12 in the 400 meter dash.

Logan Engberg paced the distance group when he crossed the finish line at 15:15.61 in the 5000 meter run, good enough for first place out of 12 competitors. Camren Howard kept Carthage's distance game intact with a second-place mark of 4:05.07 in the 1500 meter run. Suneed Ahmed displayed promise for the Red Men in the 3000 meter run, where he notched fourth place with a 9:21.89.

Carthage displayed eye-popping marks in the hurdles for the first time in a while, and Jared Humphrey had a lot to do with that as his third-place time of 59.51 in the 400 meter hurdles put his team over the edge. Connor Bell kept the third-place trend alive in the high jump, where he cleared the bar at 1.80m en route to third place. Demario Levi followed Bell in fourth place with a 1.80m that was cleared on his second attempt.

Aaron Austin cemented his name atop the leaderboard in throws events, which began with his first-place toss of 46.04m in the discus, while Nate Meador took third in the event with a 41.69m. Austin continued his promising meet with second-place marks in the shot put (14.48m) and hammer throw (50.83m). Meador claimed fourth in the hammer after tossing a 46.49m.

The Red Men will compete at the Augustana College Meet of Champions on Thursday, April 19 at 11:00 a.m. in Rock Island, Illinois.
