WAUKESHA, WIS.—The 2019 outdoor opener pitted the Carthage College men's track & field team at the Carroll University Invitational on Thursday. The Red Men took control of third place out of nine teams with 94 points, while UW-Oshkosh claimed the Carroll University Pioneer Invitational Team Championship with 229 points.

Aaron Austin highlighted the Red Men throws group in the discus, where he registered a first-place toss of 47.55m on his fifth attempt. His toss was nearly three meters ahead of Cody Gebhart's (unattached) second-place mark of 44.62m.

Austin followed his championship performance with a pair of third-place finishes in the shot put (14.95m) and the hammer throw (48.47m). The hammer throw also saw a fourth-place mark of 45.83 from
Nate Meador, and a fifth-place toss of 43.92 from
Diego Torrez.

Logan Engberg led the Red Men distance runners in the 1500 meter run, where he clocked-in a 4:07.30 en route to second place out of 30 finishers.
Brandon Gray followed Engberg in fourth place with a 4:14.89 in the 1500 meter run.
Michael Schantek kept the fourth-place trend alive with a time of 49.76 in the 400 meter run.

A trio of Red Men battled it out in the 400 meter hurdles, where
Jared Humphrey led the way in third place with a 59.15.
Dante Graham followed Humphrey in fourth place with a 59.78, while
Trevor Wills tallied a fifth-place time of 1:00.79. Â

The Red Men will participate in the Wheaton College Invitational on Saturday, April 6 at McCully Stadium in Wheaton, Illinois at 11:00 a.m.
