FULL RESULTS

NAPERVILLE, ILL.—The Carthage College men's track & field team embarked on day two of the 2019 CCIW Indoor Track & Field Championship at the Al B. Carius Track in Naperville, Illinois on Saturday. The 4x400 meter relay squad of David Rogers, Ronny Onano, Dane Rasmussen and Michael Schantek highlighted the Red Men on Saturday as they secured the CCIW Championship with a time of 3:19.76, which propelled Carthage to fifth place out of nine teams with 68 points. It marks the Red Men's first CCIW Indoor 4x400 Meter Relay Championship since 2010.
 
North Central College (Ill.) claimed the 2019 CCIW Indoor Track & Field Team Championship with 218 points.
 
The Red Men secured a plethora of third-place finishes on day two, which began with Aaron Austin's mark of 15.15m in the shot put. Caleb Hays followed Austin in fourth place with a toss of 14.97m in the shot put. Camren Howard kept the third-place trend alive for the Red Men with a 1:54.69 in the 800 meter run. Michael Schantek crossed the finish line at 49.82 in the 400 meter run, which secured Carthage another third-place finish. Ronny Onano (50.69) and Dane Rasmussen (51.07) also contributed team points with fifth and seventh-place marks in the 400 meter dash.
 
Schantek also scored points in the 200 meter dash, where he claimed seventh place with a 22.90.
 
Logan Engberg highlighted the distance athletes with a fifth-place time of 8:47.08 in the 3000 meter run.
 
The Red Men will compete in last chance meets over the next week with hopes to qualify for the 2019 NCAA Division III Indoor Track & Field Championship at UMass Boston on March 8-9.
