NAPERVILLE, ILL.—The Carthage College men's track & field team competed on day one of the 2019 College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin (CCIW) Indoor Track & Field Championship at North Central College's Al B. Carius Track on Friday. The Red Men mustered 19 points in the front-end of the two-day event, which put them in fifth place out of nine teams. North Central College (Ill.) leads the pack with 68 points, a 34-point cushion over second place Augustana College's 34 points.

Aaron Austin scored six points for the Red Men with a third-place toss of 17.05m in the weight throw. Teammate
Nate Meador contributed four points for the Red Men when he notched fifth place in the weight throw with a mark of 15.40m.

Logan Engberg continued to perpetually improve as he crossed the finish line at 14:57.59 in the 5000 meter run, good enough for fourth place and five points. Engberg only trailed a trio of highly-touted North Central runners in the race. Â The distance medley relay squad of

Zakry Schwartz tacked on four points to the Red Men's total with a fifth-place time of 10:46.88.

Connor Bell currently sits in fifth place in the heptathlon with 2237 points after the 60 meter run, long jump, shot put and high jump events.

The Red Men will look to secure their first CCIW indoor title in school history tomorrow, February 23. Events will commence at 10:30 a.m.
