Lady Reds to Wrap-Up Regular Season Against Pioneers and Vikings

THE GAMES

  • The Carthage College women's basketball team (15-8, 9-5 CCIW), who clinched the right to host a CCIW Play-In Game on Tuesday, February 19 against an opponent to be determined, will conclude the 2018-19 regular season with a pair of games this week. The Lady Reds will travel to Carroll (Wis.) (9-14, 4-10 CCIW) on Wednesday, February 13 for a 7:00 p.m. game, and host Augustana College (13-11, 7-8 CCIW) on Saturday, February 16 at 5:00 p.m.
  • Madie Kaelber, who owns 960 career points, is 40 away from becoming the 24th Lady Reds player to eclipse 1,000.
  • The Carroll Pioneers pace the CCIW with 504 free throw attempts. Freshmen Sierra Grubor and Alyssa Cruz have a lot to do with that figure as they combine for 224 trips to the charity stripe.
  • Cruz, who carries 10.3 points per game, will enter Wednesday's bout with a CCIW-leading 132 assists and 5.7 assists per game. Grubor leads the Pioneers' lineup with 13.5 points per game off a .422 (87-206) shooting mark.
  • The Pioneers will take a two-game losing skid into their showdown at Carthage, which includes decisions against Millikin (59-71) and Elmhurst (62-71).
  • The Augustana Vikings are led by Izzy Anderson's 16.2 points per game and a CCIW-leading 114 free throws made and 812 minutes played. 
  • Alexis Jones' 8.3 rebounds per game and 198 rebounds commands the CCIW.
  • The highlight of Augustana's season thus far is a 56-51 victory over #21 and first place Wheaton College on January 16. 
  • The Vikings, who also clinched a spot in the 2018-19 CCIW Tournament, currently sit behind the Lady Reds in fourth place. 

THE COACHES

  • Lindsay Schultz (18-54) is in her third season as Carroll head women's basketball coach.
  • Mark Beinborn (77-98) is in his seventh season as Augustana head women's basketball coach.

THE SERIES

  • The Lady Reds are 31-25 all-time against Carroll, and 41-28 against Augustana.
