Lady Reds Finish Day One of Calvin College Quad Invite in Third

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. – The Carthage College women's swimming and diving team hold third with a score of 238 after day one of the Calvin College Quad Invitational Friday evening at Venema Aquatic Center.

The Lady Reds had seven top-five finishes on the day as Jordyn Bloode collected first in the 500-yard freestyle while Becca Rutkowski and DeAnn Jones each placed first and second in the 50-yard freestyle respectively. Gianna McGuire also clocked a time of 24.78 in the event for fourth.

Rutkowski and Jones were also members in the 400-yard medley relay that placed fourth with swimmers Heather Walker and Shae Taylor. Carthage also had the relay team of Elise Merucci, Mackinzee Macho, Meghan Koterba, and Bloode take fifth place in the event with a time of 4:13.44.

The relay team of Heather Walker, Rutkowski, Jones and McGuire registered a time of 1:38.58 in the 200-yard freestyle to finish tied for first.

Trisha Garcia and Julia Cozzi took first and second in the three-meter diving event.

Carthage returns to the pool Saturday, November 10 for day two of the Calvin College Quad Invitational with the second session starting at 10 a.m. EST.
