THE GAMES
- The Carthage College women's basketball team (11-5, 5-2 CCIW) will complete the first half of their 2018-19 CCIW schedule with a home bout against Carroll University (7-9, 2-5 CCIW) on Wednesday, January 16 at 7:00 p.m. The Lady Reds will hit the road to Millikin University (5-11, 1-6 CCIW) to begin the second half of the CCIW schedule on Saturday, January 19 at 2:00 p.m.
- The Carroll Pioneers will enter Wednesday with a three-game losing skid at the hands of Wheaton (52-62), Elmhurst (70-77) and North Park (69-70).Â
- Eight freshmen and four sophomores make up Carroll's 12-person roster.Â
- Freshmen Sierra Grubor and Alyssa Cruz pace the Pioneer's lineup with 11.4 and 10.4 points per game respectively. Cruz leads all CCIW players with 94 assists and 5.9 assists per game. Freshman Theresa Wichser sports a CCIW-leading 121 three-point field goal attempts, 49 three-point field goals made and 3.06 three-point field goals made per game.Â
- The Big Blue sport a three-game losing skid heading into their bout against Elmhurst on Wednesday, which began with a 68-63 loss to Carthage on January 5.Â
- Millikin ranks towards the bottom of NCAA Division III with a .456 field goal percentage defense and a 75.6 scoring defense. The Big Blue are ninth in the country with 1,209 points allowed.Â
- Senior Yanni Sadler, who leads the CCIW with 253 field goal attempts, paces the Big Blue with 17.6 points per game while Aubrey Staton (16.3 PPG) and Jordan Hildebrand (12.6 PPG) round out the double-figure scorers.Â
THE COACHES
Lindsay Schultz (16-49) is in her third season as Carroll head women's basketball coach.
Olivia Lett (5-11) is in her first season as Millikin head women's basketball coach.Â
THE SERIES
The Lady Reds are 30-25 all-time against Carroll, and 28-38 all-time against Millikin.Â
LAST TIME OUT
Madie Kaelber's 19.5 points per game and 4.0 rebounds per game commanded Carthage's 2-0 week that included victories over North Central (67-57) and Augustana (73-54). Kaelber's efforts landed her CCIW Women's Basketball Player of the Week on January 14. Carthage's victories give them a five-game win streak.Â
1,000 POINT/RECORD WATCH
Bailey Gilbert, who owns a school-record 220 career three-point field goals made, now carries 991 career points, nine shy of becoming the 23rd Carthage women's basketball player to eclipse 1,000. Gilbert is currently second in school history with 550 three-pointers attempted, 14 shy of tying Angela Beyer's (2001-04) school-record mark of 564.Â

NEW YEAR SUCCESS
The Lady Reds opened a new year 4-0 for the first time since 2014-15 when they defeated Augustana (74-51), North Park (58-53), Illinois Wesleyan (69-62) and Elmhurst (68-63).Â
HIGHLY RANKED STATS
Bailey Gilbert paces the CCIW and ranks 26th in the country with a 2.33 assist/turnover ratio. Sammie Woodward's .442 three-point field goal percentage leads the CCIW and sits 19th among NCAA Division III women's basketball players. Â
