CHICAGO, Ill. – The Carthage College women's tennis team won their first dual match of the season on the road Saturday, defeating the Vikings of North Park University in Chicago, with a dominant 9-0 win.
The win moves the Lady Reds to 1-1 on the season and in the College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin, while the Vikings drop their first match of the season to fall to 2-1 on the year and 0-1 in the CCIW.
The Lady Reds dropped just three sets in the opening doubles matches, as
Angelica Emmanouil and
Sam Ramsey won 8-0,
Natalie Favia and
Nia Pham won 8-2, and
Maria Salerno and
Hannah Haeberle won 8-1 in doubles one, two and three respectively.
Carthage carried over their dominance into the singles portion of the day, with the Lady Reds winning all six matches in straight-sets. Picking up their second wins of the day were Emmanouil, Favia, Ramsey, Salerno and Pham in the one through five matches, while
Faelan O'Shaughnessy got a win at six singles in her lone match of the day.
