KENOSHA, Wis. – The Carthage College Lady Reds dropped their opening dual meet of the season on Friday night at the Smeds Tennis Center, falling to Wheaton College, 7-2.
The loss sends Carthage to 0-1 on the season and to 0-1 in the CCIW, while Wheaton improves to 3-0 and 1-0 in the conference.
Angelica Emmanouil shined in the loss for the Lady Reds, picking up wins number 122 and 123 of her career. Emmanouil opened with a number one doubles win with
Sam Ramsey as they top Carthage pair knocked off Claire Browning and Claire Dibble [8-4]. Emmanouil followed that up with a convincing number one singles win over Emma Westwick [6-2, 7-5].
"Today's score was not indicative of how well we played today against a very good Wheaton team," said head coach
Brady Lindsley. "I am really happy for Angelica after she had a great day. Picking up the doubles win with Sam and then winning her first one singles match against a very good opponent is huge for her."
