Lady Reds Defeat Bluejays In Elmhurst On Wednesday, 7-2

ELMHURST, Ill. – The Carthage College women's tennis team won their third-straight dual match on Wednesday afternoon, defeating Elmhurst College on the road, 7-2.
 
The win moves the Lady Reds to 3-1 overall and in the College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin, while Elmhurst falls to 3-3 and 0-3 in the CCIW.
 
The Lady Reds opened the day with a pair of strong wins in doubles competition, as Angelica Emmanouil and Sam Ramsey won number-one doubles [8-1] and Hannah Haeberle and Maria Salerno rolled in three doubles [8-2].
 
In singles, the Lady Reds continued to flex their muscle, claiming five-of-six matches to cruise to victory over the Bluejays.  After Elmhurst tied the match at 2-2 with a quick win in number-six singles, the Lady Reds cruised past the Bluejays with straight-set wins by Emmanouil, Natalie Favia, Nia Pham and Haeberle, while Salerno earned a super breaker win in three singles.

After getting the upcoming weekend off, the Lady Reds will return to action in Rock Island, Illinois on Saturday, October 6th when Carthage takes on Augustana College.  First serve is set for 1:30 p.m.
