ROCK ISLAND, Ill. – The Carthage College Red Men evened their College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin record on Friday night at the Quad City Tennis Club, defeating Augustana College, 6-3.
The win moves the Red Men to 6-9 on the season and to 1-1 in the CCIW, while the Vikings fall to 9-8 and 0-1 after losing their conference opener.
The Red Men came out strong with a sweep of the doubles competition to take a commanding 3-0 lead. Wins by Herman Abban and Daniel Moore over Eric Pohl and Samuel Totten in number one doubles, Lukasz Jaworski and Fordy Leipold in two doubles over Jack Morkin and Peter Alex, and John Nykyforuk and Matt Kzewinski over Caio DeRezende and Scott Daluga in three doubles set the tone for the Red Men.
In singles, Abban, Moore and Krzewinski stayed perfect on the day to give the Red Men the match. Abban and Moore defeated Totten and DeRezende in singles one and two, each in straight sets respectively. Krzewinski topped Morkin in number five singles in three sets.

The Red Men will return to Kenosha for their next two matches next weekend, taking on Illinois Wesleyan on April 13th and Millikin on April 14th. First serve both days from the Smeds Tennis Center are set for 4:00 p.m.
