Lady Reds Will Embark on Road Tilts Against Cougars and Warriors

KENOSHA, WIS.—A quick turnaround is in store for the Carthage College softball team as they face Concordia University Chicago (DH) in River Forest, Illinois on Monday, March 26 at 3:00 p.m. The Lady Reds will conclude the week with a road tilt against Wisconsin Lutheran College (DH) at the Neumann Family Softball Field in Milwaukee, Wisconsin on Thursday, March 29 at 3:00 p.m.
 
Through 16 games, Alexandra Millett paces the Lady Reds with a .392 (20-51) batting average and eight RBI's. Jennifer Michuda (.359) and Brooke Sefcik (.320) round out the Carthage .300+ sluggers. Sefcik leads the team with six doubles, three home runs and 31 total bases.
 
Lady Reds pitcher Stefanie Guercio ranks second in the CCIW with 52 strikeouts, and third with a 2.16 ERA.
 
ABOUT CONCORDIA CHICAGO (8-4, 0-0 NACC)
 
The Cougars kicked-off 2018 with a 6-4 record at the PFX Spring Games in Clermont, Florida, where they faced many common opponents with Carthage that included Penn State Behrend (L, 1-5), Wartburg (W, 8-1), University of Pittsburgh at Greensburg (W, 11-1), Ursinus College (L, 3-6), Elizabethtown College (W, 8-3), University of Mount Union (W, 11-6), Bridgewater State (W, 6-5), and Monmouth College (L, 0-3). They opened their post-spring break schedule with a 10-0 and 6-2 sweep over North Park University on March 21.
 
The Cougars will enter Monday's bout with seven .300+ sluggers in their lineup, led by Melissa Balkema's .500 (17-34) mark. Karlee Knight, Marita Van Dyke and Julianne Nation make up a Concordia Chicago pitching staff that carries a 3.41 ERA and 50 strikeouts over 80.0 innings of work.
 
Sarah O'Malley-Fisher is in her sixth season as Cougars head softball coach. The Lady Reds sport a 13-4 all-time record against Concordia Chicago.
 
ABOUT WISCONSIN LUTHERAN COLLEGE (5-5, 0-0 NACC)
 
The Warriors will open their post-spring break schedule against Carthage after going 5-5 at the Sunkissed Games in Kissimmee, Florida on March 12-16. Wisconsin Lutheran, who will enter Thursday off 13 day's rest, are led by Taylor Bjork's .406 (13-32) batting average, 13 hits and three home runs. Next is Karah Ritacco, who owns a .394 batting average (13-33) and a team-leading 10 RBI's.
 
As a team, Wisconsin Lutheran owns a .300 batting average and a .385 on-base percentage.
 
Abby Mahsem leads the Warriors pitching staff with a 3.59 ERA and 36 strikeouts over 39.0 innings.
 
The 2018 season marks Bill Curtis's seventh as Warriors head softball coach. Carthage owns a 4-2 all-time mark against Wisconsin Lutheran.

Carthage will open their CCIW schedule with a home tilt against Elmhurst College (DH) on Wednesday, April 4 at 3:00 p.m. The Lady Reds will turn around and face UW-Whitewater (DH) on the road on Thursday, April 5 at 2:30 p.m.
