Red Men To Face Falcons and Lumberjacks After a 10-Day Hiatus

KENOSHA, WIS.—After a 10-day hiatus from competition, the Carthage College men's lacrosse team (6-1, 0-0 CCIW) will face Concordia University (Wis.) on Tuesday, March 20 at Fitting Field in Mequon, Wis.  at 4:00 p.m. The Red Men will wrap the week at Art Keller Field on Saturday, March 24 against second-year program Northland College at 1:00 p.m.
 
Andy Meyers powers Carthage's fourth-ranked .709 (107-151) face-off winning percentage. Individually, Meyers sports an eighth-ranked .723 (99-of-137) mark in the circle. The Leawood, Kansas native's 11.29 ground balls per game ranks sixth in the country. Andy Szun sports a fifth-ranked 4.00 goals per game while Joe Poremba is eighth in the country with 3.43 caused turnovers per game.
 
Goalkeeper Zerik Rodriguez, who's started all seven games in net for Carthage, ranks eighth in the country with a 5.42 goals against average and a .521 save percentage.
 
ABOUT CONCORDIA UNIVERSITY (WIS.) FALCONS (3-4, 1-0 MLC)
 
To date, the Red Men and Falcons share one common opponent in Berry College. Concordia dropped a 12-3 decision to Berry on March 13 while Carthage fell to them 13-12 on March 8. Tuesday also marks the third battle between Winnipeg natives Warren Kaminsky (Concordia Wis.) and Andy Szun (Carthage). Kaminsky and the Falcons edged Carthage 7-6 on April 13, 2016, while Szun and the Red Men had the upper hand in a 10-4 decision on March 7, 2017 to even the series 1-1.
 
Aidan Connolly paces the Concordia offense with 14 goals and eight assists for 22 points, while Jack Donnellan is second on the scoring chart with 10 goals and seven assists for 17 points through seven games.  Paul Fisher commands the Falcons' defense with an NCAA Division III-leading 4.57 caused turnovers per game. Garrett Wohlford sports an 8.02 goals against average and a .541 save percentage over seven starts in net for Concordia.
 
Michael Fahey is in his fifth season as Concordia (Wis.) head men's lacrosse coach. Carthage owns a 5-3 all-time record against the Falcons.
 
ABOUT NORTHLAND COLLEGE (2-6)
 
The 2018 season marks the Lumberjacks' second season in existence. Northland's victories this season occurred against Concordia Chicago (13-2) on February 24, and Fontbonne University (6-4) on March 7. Tron Trondson paces the Lumberjacks in scoring with 15 goals and one assist for 16 points. Michael Lant and Michael Quarve round out the notable Lumberjack scorers with 10 points apiece.
 
Bob Donohue commands Northland's face-off efforts with a 57-of-84 (.679) mark. Matt Follmer owns a 10.06 goals against average and a .504 save percentage over seven starts in net for the Lumberjacks.
 
Justin Ross is in his first season as Northland head men's lacrosse coach following a four-season stint at Monroe Community College (NY). The Red Men own a 1-0 all-time record against Northland.

Carthage will face Aurora University at Art Keller Field on Wednesday, March 28 at 7:00 p.m, and will conclude the week against Olivet College on Saturday, March 31 at 1:00 p.m.
