Benedictine on the Horizon For Men's Lacrosse

KENOSHA, WIS.—The second game of 2018 will pit the Carthage College men's lacrosse team against Benedictine University on Friday, February 16 in a neutral-site bout at the Canlan Sportsplex in Barrington, Ill. at 12:00 p.m. The Red Men opened last season at the Canlan Sportsplex, where they registered a 21-5 victory over Northland College, and a 14-5 win over Hope College on February 10, 2017. 
 
ABOUT BENEDICTINE UNIVERSITY (0-0, 0-0 MLC)
 
Benedictine University, who recently applied to make the jump to NCAA Division II, will open their season against the Red Men on Friday. The Eagles' 6-11, 4-4 MLC campaign last season had them on the outside-looking-in on the 2017 Midwest Lacrosse Conference Tournament.
 
Back for Benedictine is senior Corbin Gett, who paced the Eagles with 59 goals and 14 assists for 73 points in 2017. His 3.47 goals per game last season led the MLC and ranked ninth among all NCAA Division III men's lacrosse players. Senior Ross Hulick commanded with Eagles defense with 15 caused turnovers a season ago. Austin Todner, who sported a 49-of-89 (.551) mark from the face-off circle last season, is the lone Benedictine returner with experience in the center circle.  Senior goalie Sam Sanko notched a 9.79 goals against average, and a .549 save percentage over 16 starts last season.
 
Guy Bourdon is in his third season as the Eagles head men's lacrosse coach. The Red Men hold a 4-1 all-time record against Benedictine.

The Red Men will return to Art Keller Field for the first time in 2018 against Hope College on Saturday, February 24 at 1:00 p.m.
