THE GAME

  • A pair of non-conference affairs are on the horizon for the Carthage College women's basketball team (2-1, 0-0 CCIW), who will kick-off the week at Calvin College (2-2, 0-0 MIAA) on Tuesday, November 20 at 7:00 p.m. (ET). The Lady Reds will embark on a four-day Thanksgiving hiatus before ending the week at home against the Cornell College Rams (0-3, 0-0 MWC) on Sunday, November 25 at 3:00 p.m.
  • The Calvin Knights will enter Tuesday's affair with a two-game losing streak that includes defeats to UW-La Crosse (75-52) and Wisconsin Lutheran (64-50).
  • Leading the Knights is freshman Gabby Timmer, who carries 15 points per game and 11 rebounds per game through four games. Timmer opened her career with a Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association Player of the Week honor on November 12. Timmer is the daughter of Calvin Athletic Director James Timmer.

  • The Rams's 2017-18 regular season ended with a 20-6, 14-2 MWC record and a Midwest Conference Tournament Championship via a 66-55 win over Lake Forest College. Cornell's post season ended in the 2017-18 NCAA Division III Tournament First Round, where they dropped a 75-50 decision to Hope College.

LADY REDS ARE A TEAM OF DEJA VU

More deja vu hit the Carthage College women's basketball team at the St. Norbert College Tournament. Autumn Kalis mirrored both performances with 14 points, six made field goals and two three-point field goals made. Sammie Woodward did the same thing with 11 points, four field goals made and three 3-point field goals made in both games. That's not all, Carthage duplicated their perimeter game from the 78-57 win over Ripon with another 10-of-25 mark against UW-Superior.

RECORD WATCH

Bailey Gilbert now owns 191 career three-point field goals made, 11 shy of tying Haley Stercic's (2011-14) career record mark of 202.

QUITE SOME TIME

The Lady Reds haven't faced Calvin College since December 8, 2010, where they dropped a 69-59 decision. That marked the end of a six-out-of-seven year stretch Carthage faced Calvin.

NOT QUITE SOME TIME

Carthage's last and only meeting with the Rams was a 68-56 victory at the Cornell College Tournament on November 18, 2017 of last season.

HISTORICAL MILESTONE

The Lady Reds will open CCIW play at Illinois Wesleyan on December 1, the earliest they've ever played a CCIW game in program history.
