KENOSHA, Wis. – The Carthage College women's tennis team won their second straight match on Friday at Smeds Tennis Center, defeating the Illinois Wesleyan University Titans, 9-0.
The win moves the Lady Reds to 5-2 on the year and to 5-2 in the College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin, while IWU falls to 2-6 overall and to 2-5 in the league.
The Lady Reds opened with a sweep of the doubles competition with
Angelica Emmanouil and
Sam Ramsey taking one-doubles,
Natalie Favia and
Nia Pham winning two-doubles, and
Maria Salerno and
Hannah Haeberle completing the sweep with a win at three-doubles.
The Lady Reds then carried the momentum into singles where they continued to dominate with six straight-set wins to complete the sweep. Wins in the singles competition came from Emmanouil, Favia, Ramsey, Saleno, Pham and
Ashley Woods.
