1/16/2018 3:06:00 PM

FULL GAME NOTES

THE GAMES

  • The Carthage College women's basketball team (10-5, 3-3 CCIW) will take a two-game win streak into their bout at North Park University (8-7, 3-3 CCIW) on Wednesday, January 17 at 7:00 p.m. The Lady Reds will cap their two-game road swing at Millikin University (5-10, 0-6 CCIW) on Saturday, January 20 at 5:00 p.m.
  • Wednesday's contest will feature a tail of two streaks as the Vikings are in the midst of a three-game losing skid. Those defeats came to Wheaton College (87-56), Elmhurst College (65-53) and Illinois Wesleyan University (83-53).
  • The Vikings registered a 3-0 start to the 2017-18 campaign that included wins over St. Mary's College (Ind.) (76-48), Bluffton University (63-59) and Illinois College (66-52).
  • Shaylee Sloan (8.1 PPG.) and Gabby Sandoval (8.1 PPG.) engineer a Vikings offense that ranks eighth in the CCIW with a 59.9 scoring offense.
  • Sloan's five double-doubles, 136 rebounds and 9.1 rebounds per game each rank second in the CCIW.
  • North Park's strengths lie on the defensive end, where they sport a CCIW-leading .264 three-point field goal percentage defense. The Vikings rank third in the CCIW with a .372 field goal percentage defense.
  • The Millikin Big Blue, who will face #18 Illinois Wesleyan University on January 17, are in pursuit of their first CCIW victory after they began the 2017-18 season 3-1.
  • The Lady Reds will need to keep Millikin away from the charity stripe as their .744 free throw percentage leads the CCIW and ranks 20th in NCAA Division III. Carthage, whose 9.40 offensive rebounds per game ranks last in the CCIW, will need to exploit Millikin's conference-low 24.87 defensive rebounds per game.
  • Devin Curry paces the Big Blue with 17.0 points per game, 46 assists, a .406 (43-106) three-point field goal percentage, and a CCIW-leading .923 (48-52) free throw percentage.
