RACINE, Wis. – The Carthage College men's tennis program turned in a dominant performance on Thursday at the Racine Tennis Center, defeating the North Central College Cardinals, 7-2.
The win improves the Red Men to 11-12 on the season and 4-3 in the College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin, while the Cardinals fall to 10-8 and 2-5 in conference.
Thursday's match opened with the singles competition, which the Red Men took in dominant fashion, 5-1, with wins by
Herman Abban,
Pawel Jaworski,
Chris Conley,
Lukasz Jaworski and
Oscar Irazoque in the one-through-five matches, each coming in straight sets.
For Abban, the number-one singles win moves him to 28-3 on the season and just one behind the all-time Carthage College single-season wins record at 29, which is currently held by Brad Livingston and Daneric Hazelman.
Carthage closed the match with wins in two-of-three doubles matches, as the Red Men picked up wins by Abban and P. Jaworski in one's, and Conley and L. Jaworski in two's.
