RACINE, Wis. – The Carthage College men's tennis program turned in a dominant performance on Thursday at the Racine Tennis Center, defeating the North Central College Cardinals, 7-2.
 
The win improves the Red Men to 11-12 on the season and 4-3 in the College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin, while the Cardinals fall to 10-8 and 2-5 in conference.
 
Thursday's match opened with the singles competition, which the Red Men took in dominant fashion, 5-1, with wins by Herman Abban, Pawel Jaworski, Chris Conley, Lukasz Jaworski and Oscar Irazoque in the one-through-five matches, each coming in straight sets.
 
For Abban, the number-one singles win moves him to 28-3 on the season and just one behind the all-time Carthage College single-season wins record at 29, which is currently held by Brad Livingston and Daneric Hazelman.
 
Carthage closed the match with wins in two-of-three doubles matches, as the Red Men picked up wins by Abban and P. Jaworski in one's, and Conley and L. Jaworski in two's.

Carthage will return to action on Thursday, May 4th when the Red Men head to Rock Island, Ill. for the 2017 College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin Championship.  The Red Men do not yet know their first round opponent.
