Men's Tennis Splits At Smeds On Saturday

KENOSHA, Wis. – The Carthage College men's tennis team rebounded from a 5-4 defeat to the Vikings of Augustana College to open Saturday with a dominant performance in the second match of the day against the Milwaukee School of Engineering, 8-1.

The split moves the Red Men to 10-12 in dual matches this season and drops Carthage to 3-3 in the College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin.  Augustana moves to 12-9 on the year and 5-1 in the CCIW, while MSOE falls to 7-16.

Carthage opened the day with a pair of doubles wins by the number one and two doubles teams to give the Red Men a 2-1 lead early.  The nationally ranked duo of Herman Abban and Pawel Jaworski won [8-4] and the number-two squad, Chris Conley and Matt Curry, won [8-6].

Unfortunately for Carthage, the Red Men were only able to get wins out of Abban and Conley in the one and three singles matches respectively, allowing the Vikings to squeak out the 5-4 victory.
