ELMHURST, Ill. – The Carthage College men's tennis team rebounded from a loss last weekend on Thursday with a convincing win on the road, as the Red Men defeated the Elmhurst College Bluejays at the Brune Tennis Courts, 9-0.
The win moves the Red Men to 8-11 on the season and to 3-2 in the College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin, while the Bluejays remain winless on the season at 0-16 and 0-4 in the CCIW.
Carthage opened the day with a sweep of the doubles competition as
Herman Abban and
Pawel Jaworski won one-doubles [8-4],
Chris Conley and
Matt Curry won two-doubles [8-3], and
Lukasz Jaworski and
Fordy Leipold dominated three singles [8-0].
The Red Men followed that up with dominant sweep in the singles competition as well with Abban, P. Jaworski, Conley, L. Jaworski,
Oscar Irazoque and Leipold each won in straight-sets in the one through six matches respectively.
Carthage will look to continue their winning ways this weekend with a pair of home matches on Saturday, April 22nd when the Red Men host Augustana College and the Milwaukee School of Engineering.
