KENOSHA, Wis. – The Carthage College Red Men won their College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin opener on Sunday, defeating the Carroll University Pioneers, 7-2.
 
The win moves the defending CCIW champions to 7-8 on the year and 1-0 in the conference, while Carroll falls to 7-6 overall and 0-2 in the CCIW.
 
Carthage opened the day with a sweep of the doubles competition.  The #12 doubles duo in the nation of Herman Abban and Pawel Jaworski defeated Carroll's top team of Peter Jaeger and Matt Michael [8-5], followed by Chris Conley and Lukasz Jaworski defeating Chayce Roecker and Joseph Harrison [8-4], and Fordy Leipold and Brandon Stassen topping Ian Foster and Mitchel Gjerseth [9-8 (9-7)].
 
In the singles competition, Carthage took four of the six matches in straight sets to cruise to victory.  Wins by the Red Men were turned in by Abban in one-singles, P. Jaworski in two-singles, L. Jaworski in four-singles and Oscar Irazoque in the five-singles.
