Four Doubleheaders On The Horizon For Softball This Week

 


KENOSHA, WIS.—North Park University, Carroll University, Concordia University Chicago and Augustana College (Ill.) make up the quartet of teams on the Carthage College softball team's (10-8, 1-1 CCIW) docket this week.

North Park University (DH), 3:00 p.m.
 
Wednesday, April 5
Carroll University (DH), 3:00 p.m.

Concordia University Chicago (DH), 3:00 p.m.
 
Saturday, April 8
at Augustana College (Ill.) (DH), 1:00 p.m.
 
Kayla Uhwat-Vicicondi,(.364), Darian Pelsor (.352), Rachel Fanella (.313) and Hailey Rothstein (.300) make up the four .300+ hitters on the Lady Reds lineup. Amy Goldsmith (42.1 IP) commands the Carthage pitching staff with a 1.32 ERA while Katie Herron (44.1 IP) leads the staff with 66 strikeouts. 

ABOUT NORTH PARK UNIVERSITY (3-19, 0-2 CCIW)
 
The Vikings' bright spots this season occurred in a 8-6 decision over Mount Mary University on March 31, a 1-0 win over Olivet College on April 1 and a 7-4 victory over Lawrence University on March 17. North Park will enter Monday's bout with Carthage in pursuit of their first CCIW victory this season after 9-1 and 2-1 losses to Illinois Wesleyan on April 2.
 
Ellie Manderfeld paces North Park with a .404 batting average (23-57) while Abby Gentile is on her heels with a .389 (14-36) mark. North Park's pitching staff carries a 6.63 ERA along with 78 strikeouts this season.
 
Katie Anderson is in her third season as North Park head softball coach. The Lady Reds own a 66-6 all-time mark against the Vikings.
 
ABOUT CARROLL UNIVERSITY (11-9, 2-0 CCIW)
 
The Pioneers will take a four-game win streak into their contest with Cardinal Stritch University on April 3. They made their return to the CCIW with 1-0 and 3-2 wins over North Central College (Ill.) on April 1.
 
Veronica Rodriguez leads the Carroll hitters with a .417 batting average with two doubles and nine runs batted in. Amanda Osterhus (44.0 IP), Lexy Kemnitzer (35.1 IP) and Hannah Miller (46.2 IP) all have platooned on the pitching rubber for a Carroll staff that owns a 2.91 ERA and 113 strikeouts.
 
Amy Gradecki is in her ninth season as Carroll (Wis.) head softball coach. The Lady Reds carry a 25-7 all-time record against the Pioneers.
 
ABOUT CONCORDIA UNIVERSITY CHICAGO (10-9, 1-3 NACC)
 
The Cougars are led by Melissa Balkema, who carries a .423 batting average (22-52), seven doubles, one triple and one home run. Concordia University Chicago has six other .300 plus hitters in their lineup. Marita Van Dyke, who's pitched 57.1 innings this season, owns a 2.69 ERA and 37 strikeouts.
 
The Cougars opened their conference schedule with a 6-1 loss, and an 8-6 win over Benedictine University on April 1. Aurora University swept Concordia Chicago 9-8 and 8-1 on April 2.
 
Sarah O'Malley-Fisher is in her fifth season as Cougar head softball coach. Carthage has a 12-3 all-time advantage against Concordia University Chicago.
 
ABOUT AUGUSTANA COLLEGE (7-11, 0-0 CCIW)
 
The Vikings will open their CCIW schedule against Elmhurst College (DH) on April 5. Augustana has lost four of their last five games. The only bright spot in that five-game span occurred in an 8-0 win over Ripon College on March 26.
 
Rachel Anderson leads the Vikings hitters a .404 batting average (21-52) that includes a pair of doubles and three triples. Five other Augustana sluggers sport a .300 plus batting average. Kelcie Fredrickson paces the Vikings pitching staff with a 3.74 ERA and 27 strikeouts in 48.2 innings of work this season.
 
Kris Kistler is in her 19th season as Augustana College (Ill.) head softball coach. The Lady Reds own a 30-30 all-time mark against the Vikings.

The Lady Reds will host Wheaton College (Ill.) (DH) on Tuesday, April 11 at 3:00 p.m., and Ripon College (DH) on Thursday, April 13 at 3:00 p.m.
