FULL GAME NOTES
THE GAME
-The Carthage College women's basketball team (12-8, 6-5 CCIW) will travel to Elmhurst College on Wednesday, February 8 for a 7:00 p.m. game. The Lady Reds will return to Tarble Arena for the final time in 2016-17 on Saturday, February 11 when they host Illinois Wesleyan University at 5:00 p.m. Senior Mandy Hozzian will be honored prior to Saturday's game against the Titans.
-The Lady Reds will take a season-long, four-game win streak into Wednesday's bout with the Bluejays. Elmhurst (16-5, 8-4 CCIW), currently tied with Augustana College (Ill.) for third place in the CCIW, will look to snap a two-game losing skid against Carthage.
-Elmhurst's Mikaela Eppared ranks first in the CCIW with a .589 field goal percentage, and second with 20.0 points per game.Â
-Illinois Wesleyan (14-6, 9-2 CCIW) currently sits atop the CCIW standings with Wheaton College (Ill.). The Titans will take a four-game win streak into their meeting with North Park University on Wednesday, February 8.Â
-Molly McGraw, who was named CCIW Player of the Week on Monday, paces the Titans with 18.7 points per game.
THE COACHES
-Tethnie Carrillo is in her 10th season as Elmhurst College head women's basketball coach. She arrived to the Elmhurst following a stint as assistant women's basketball coach at Lake Superior State University.Â
-The 2016-17 season is Mia Smith's 19th as Illinois Wesleyan University head women's basketball coach. Smith (260-154)Â is the Titan all-time leader in coaching victories.Â
THE SERIES
-The Lady Reds own a 54-16 all-time mark against Elmhurst. This includes a 59-56 loss to the Bluejays on January 7.
-Carthage carries a 28-38 all-time record against Illinois Wesleyan University. The Lady Reds fell to the Titans 77-50 on January 14.
LAST TIME OUT
-The Lady Reds capped off their 4-0 home stand with a 70-44 win over Wheaton College (Ill.) on February 1, followed by a 73-38 win over Illinois Institute of Technology on February 4.Â
-Carthage held all opposing players to single-digit scoring in their win over Wheaton (Ill.). It was the first time that happened since a 62-41 victory over UW-La Crosse on November 22. Madie Kaelber paced the team with 14 points and two steals in the contest.
-Fifteen Lady Reds found the scoring column in their victory over Illinois Tech. Autumn Kalis (11) and Kaelber (10) notched double figure points against the Scarlet Hawks.
-Amber Roberts'Â seven rebounds, and Morgan Vukovich's four assists led Carthage in their win over Illinois Tech.
RECORD WATCH
Harris sits in first place on the Carthage College record book with an .813 (205-252) career free-throw percentage. Kalis's .451 (37-82) three-point field goal percentage this season ranks fifth on the Carthage all-time single-season list.
The Lady Reds launched a record 40 three-point field goal attempts against Illinois Tech on February 4. They also tied for a team-record 15 three-point field goals made against the Scarlet Hawks.Â
CONFERENCE/NATIONAL RANKINGS
Morgan Harris leads the CCIW with 111 assists, 5.8 assists per game, and one triple double. Her 5.8 assists per game ranks 10th in NCAA Divison III. Bailey Gilbert ranks second in the CCIW with 2.20 three-point field goals per game, and 44 three-point field goals made.Â
Carthage ranks second in the CCIW, and sixth in NCAA Division III with a .374 three-point field goal percentage, and 8.7 three-point field goals per game.Â
STATISTICAL LEADERS
Madie Kaelber paces the Lady Reds in scoring with 13.4 points per game while Bailey Gilbert leads the team with 44 three-point field goals made. Morgan Harris leads Carthage in rebounds per game (7.3) and assists per game (5.6). Maggie Berigan's .550 (33-of-60) field goal percentage, and Kalis's .451 (37-82) three-point field goal percentage lead the Lady Reds.Â
CALLING ALL ALUMNI
Alumni Day for both the Red Men and Lady Reds basketball teams is set for Saturday, February 11 at Tarble Arena. The women's alumni game will take place at 1:00 p.m., followed by the men's contest at 2:00 p.m. A pizza reception will take place from 4:00 p.m. - 7:00 p.m. in the Todd Wehr Center. The Red Men and Lady Reds will host Illinois Wesleyan University at 5:00 p.m. and 7:00 p.m.
HOME COOKING
Carthage is 6-0 when shooting .450 percent or better from the field at home, 7-0 when out rebounding opponents at home, 7-0 when scoring first at home, 4-0 on Wednesday home games and 4-0 when having more steals than their opponent at home.Â
ROAD WOES
The Lady Reds are in pursuit of their first true-road victory of the 2016-17 season.Â
BALANCED ATTACK
Nine different Lady Reds have scored in double figures, while four players have achieved a double double through 20 games of the 2016-17 season.
PLAYOFF PICTURE
The Lady Reds, who sit in fifth place in the CCIW, are 1.5 games back from Elmhurst and Augustana (Ill.) for a spot in the 2016-17 CCIW playoffs.Â
