FULL GAME NOTES
THE GAME
-The Carthage College women's basketball team (12-10, 6-7 CCIW) will end the 2016-17 season with a three-game road tilt. The Lady Reds will take on North Park University on Wednesday, February 15 at 7:00 p.m., followed by a contest at Millikin University on Saturday, February 18 at 5:00 p.m.
-North Park (11-12, 4-10 CCIW) will look to snap a two-game drought that includes losses to Illinois Wesleyan (61-89) and Wheaton (Ill.) (58-90). Liz Rehberger, who averages 19.3 points per game this season, is the lone Viking to average in double figures. She also paces North Park defensively with 57 steals and 21 blocks.Â
-The Vikings will enter their bout with Carthage in seventh place in the CCIW.
-Millikin (9-13, 3-10 CCIW) will take a three-game losing skid into their meeting with Wheaton (Ill.) on February 15. The Big Blue currently sit in eighth place in the CCIW.
-Emily Schultz (15.4), Devin Curry (14.9) and Yanni Sadler (14.3) make up the trio of Millikin players to average double figures this season. Curry's .948 (73-77) free-throw percentage ranks first in NCAA Division III.Â
THE COACHES
-Amanda Crockett is in her ninth season as North Park University head women's basketball coach. She came to the Vikings after a stint as assistant coach at the University of Illinois-Chicago.
-The 2016-17 season is Lori Kerans' 31st as Millikin head women's basketball coach (538-244). Her 538 career wins ranks 13th on the all-time NCAA Division III all-time wins list.
THE SERIES
-The Lady Reds own a 56-20 all-time mark against North Park University. This includes a 65-50 win over the Vikings on January 4.Â
-Carthage carries a 25-37 all-time record against Millikin. The Lady Reds defeated the Big Blue 96-80 on December 3.
LAST TIME OUT
-Carthage's 0-2 stretch last week included a 75-58 loss to Elmhurst College on February 8, followed by an 80-49 defeat to Illinois Wesleyan on February 11.
-Madie Kaelber was the lone Lady Red to eclipse double figures against Elmhurst with 23 points on 10-of-18 shooting.Â
-Carthage's contest vs. Illinois Wesleyan was dubbed senior/alumni day. Rachel Szydlowski (12) and Kaelber (10) each paced the Lady Reds in the scoring column.Â
RECORD WATCH
Morgan Harris sits in first place on the Carthage College record book with an .815 (207-254) career free-throw percentage.Â
CONFERENCE/NATIONAL RANKINGS
Harris leads the CCIW with 118 assists, 5.6 assists per game, and one triple double. Her 5.6 assists per game ranks 13th in NCAA Divison III. Bailey Gilbert leads the CCIW with 47 three-point field goals made, and ranks second with 2.14 three-point field goals per game.Â
Carthage ranks second in the CCIW, and 11th in NCAA Division III with a .363 three-point field-goal percentage. The Lady Reds are 13th in the country with 8.4 three-point field goals per game, and 17th with 185 three-point field goals made.
STATISTICAL LEADERS
Madie Kaelber paces the Lady Reds in scoring with 13.6 points per game while Bailey Gilbert leads the team with 47 three-point field goals made. Morgan Harris commands Carthage in rebounds per game (6.9) and assists per game (5.4). Maggie Berigan's .552 (37-of-67) field goal percentage, and Kalis's .426 (23-54) three-point field goal percentage lead the Lady Reds.Â
HOME COOKING
Carthage is 6-0 when shooting .450 percent or better from the field at home, 7-0 when scoring first at home, 4-0 on Wednesday home games and 4-0 when having more steals than their opponent at home.Â
ROAD WOES
The Lady Reds are in pursuit of their first true-road victory of the 2016-17 season.Â
BALANCED ATTACK
Nine different Lady Reds have scored in double figures, while four players have achieved a double double through 22 games of the 2016-17 season.
PLAYOFF PICTURE
The Lady Reds, who sit in fifth place in the CCIW, are 2.5 games back from Augustana (Ill.) for a spot in the 2016-17 CCIW playoffs.Â
