THE GAMES
-The Carthage College women's basketball team's (3-1, 0-0 CCIW) home opener on Wednesday November 29 against UW-Stevens Point (3-1, 0-0 WIAC) at 7:00 p.m. will feature a pair of squads receiving votes on the November 28 D3Hoops.com Poll (Carthage 13, UW-Stevens Point 13).
-The Pointers opened their 2017-18 campaign with a pair of victories over Alverno College (67-35) and Simpson College (69-66) before falling to Loras College (70-81) on the back-end of the Fidelity Bank & Trust Tip-Off Classic in Dubuque, Iowa. They will enter Wednesday's bout off an eight-day hiatus following a 58-44 win over Lakeland College on November 21.
-UW-Stevens Point's youthful 2017-18 roster consists of six freshmen, one sophomore, two juniors and three seniors. Freshmen Brooke Geier (5.5 PPG.) and Ashley Leiterman (6.5 PPG.) cracked the lineup in all four contests for UW-Stevens Point this season. Seniors Taylor Barrett (11.8 PPG.), Lexi Roland (8.3 PPG.) and Mickey Roland (7.3 PPG.) round out the probable Pointer starters.Â
-Carly Cerrato, the Pointers' top bench threat, leads the team with 12.8 points per game on 14-of-32 (.438) shooting. Mickey Roland paces the team with 8.3 rebounds per game.
-The Lady Reds will open CCIW play at Illinois Wesleyan University (3-2, 0-0 CCIW) on Saturday, December 2 at 5:00 p.m. The Titans began their season with victories over Colorado College (96-93) and University of Chicago (77-56) at the Maroon Invitational on November 17-18.Â
-The Titans, fresh off a six-day hiatus after defeating Rose Hulman (60-59), are led by Maddie Merritt's 13.8 points per game. D3Hoops.com Preseason Honorable Mention All-American selection Molly McGraw owns 13.0 points per game and 4.2 rebounds per game.
THE COACHES
-Shirley Egner, in her 29th season at UW-Stevens Point (525-229), is the WIAC all-time wins leader.
-Mia Smith (364-159) is in her 20th season as Illinois Wesleyan head women's basketball coach.Â
THE SERIES
-The Lady Reds own a 1-5 all-time record against UW-Stevens Point. The lone victory over the Pointers occurred in a 36-27 decision in Stevens Point, Wis. on March 23, 1968.
-Carthage is 28-39 all-time against Illinois Wesleyan University.Â
LAST TIME OUT
-Madie Kaelber's career-high 33 points led Carthage in their 96-90 2OT loss at University of Chicago on November 26. Morgan Harris registered her 13th career double-double in the contest with 16 points and 10 rebounds.Â
-Bailey Gilbert notched four first-half three-pointers en route to 14 points in Carthage's loss to the Maroons. Sammie Woodward contributed a career-high nine points in the contest.
-The Lady Reds began last week with a 67-49 win over Coe College. Rachel Szydlowski notched 14 of her 16 points in the first half of that contest on 7-of-9 shooting. Kaelber also contributed 16 points in the game.Â

Madie Kaelber's previous career-high 28 points was also achieved against the University of Chicago on November 27, 2016. Carthage fell to the Maroons 86-81 OT in that contest.Â
HOME OPENER SUCCESS
The Lady Reds own a 16-game win streak in home openers. Their previous defeat came in a 64-43 decision against Lakeland College on November 28, 2000. Carthage is 42-13 all-time in home openers.

Carthage's contest vs. UW-Stevens Point marks the latest home-opener for them since 2008-09 when the first one took place on January 5.Â

Four CCIW schools find their name on the November 28 D3Hoops.com Poll. #24 Wheaton is the lone squad in the top-25 while Illinois Wesleyan (20), Carthage (13) and North Park (10) received votes. UW-Stevens Point earned two votes on the poll.Â
CCIW LEADERS
Madie Kaelber leads all CCIW players in points per game (20.8), total points (83), field goals made (28) and free throws made (20). Morgan Harris paces the league in rebounds (38), double-doubles (2), free throw attempts (24), defensive rebounds per game (9.0) and minutes per game (34.75). Bailey Gilbert leads the way in three-point percentage (65.2), three-pointers made (15) and three-pointers per game (3.75). Autumn Kalis sits in the driver's seat with 27 three-point field goal attempts. Â
