KENOSHA, WIS.—The Carthage College women's soccer team returned to Art Keller Field for the first time in 14 days for Friday night's contest with the University of Wisconsin-La Crosse. Déjà vu continues to come in large doses for the Lady Reds on a game-by-game basis.
Â
First, they were on the right and wrong end of 4-0 scores in their two-game California trip. Second, back-to-back rain delayed games provoked two hard-fought Carthage wins. Third, the Lady Reds generated back-to-back 1-0 wins at Art Keller Field on game-winning goals scored by the same person. That person happened to be
Maggie Washelesky, who notched the game's only goal in the seventh minute to secure a 1-0 victory over UW-La Crosse.
Â
The Lady Reds improve to 5-2, 0-0-0 CCIW while the Eagles fall to 5-2, 0-0-0 WIAC.

Lady Reds 1, UW-La Crosse 0
Â
Carthage wasted no time finding the scoreboard, and Washelesky was to thank for that.
Kayla McGuinness, who controlled the ball and took it up the right side, found Washelesky alone 20 yards in front of the net.
Â
Washelesky moved the ball a couple feet before she fired a shot that beat UW-La Crosse goalkeeper Kennedy Brault to give Carthage a 1-0 lead in the seventh minute.
Â
The Eagles and Lady Reds were deadlocked at five shots a piece at the intermission.
Â
Carthage's hard-nosed play prevented the Eagles from finding the back of the net. The Lady Reds shutdown many Eagle scoring opportunities that occured through four corner kicks, as well as two yellow cards and a red card tallied against them.
Â
"We came out knowing it was going to be a battle tonight," said Carthage College head women's soccer coach
Sara Meyer. "We tell the team that we have to play 90 minutes of soccer and though there were moments we were a little lacks, different players stepped up and we came away with the win."
Â
Carthage goalkeeper
Emily Furmanek registered seven saves en route to her fourth shutout on the season.

The Lady Reds will return to Art Keller Field on Wednesday, September 28 against #4 University of Chicago. Game time is set for 5:00 p.m.
