KENOSHA, WIS.—Plenty of scenarios were in the Carthage College women's soccer team's favor in their matchup with #4 University of Chicago at Art Keller Field on Wednesday evening.  The Lady Reds were riding a three-game win streak at Art Keller Field that dated back to last season. Carthage was 2-0 in games that involved rain or weather delays this season prior to Wednesday night. Â
Â
Rain and strong winds entered the picture in the second half. If history is any indicator, the ball was in the Lady Red's court. Carthage outshot the Maroons 8-6 in the second half, and drew three corner kicks. Those statistics didn't result in any goals as Carthage fell by a score of 2-0 to #4 University of Chicago.
Â
The Lady Reds fall to 5-3-0, 0-0-0 CCIW while the Maroons stay undefeated at 9-0-0, 0-0-0 UAA.
Â
University of Chicago 2, Lady Reds 0
Â
Both teams battled to a 0-0 tie for a large portion of the first half. Momentum swung in Chicago's direction when Sydney Mathis fired a shot 25 yards in front of the net in the 43
rd minute. The shot was out of Carthage goalkeeper
Emily Furmanek's reach and found the back of the net to make the score 1-0.
Â
Mia Calamari widened the Chicago lead to 2-0 in the 64
th minute on an unassisted tally from 20 yards in front of the net.
Â
The 2-0 deficit combined with the forecasted rain was enough fuel for the Lady Reds as they followed that with a shot on goal, and corner kick opportunity within the next three minutes.
Â
The Lady Reds continued their dominant play in mother nature's elements. From Calamari's goal to the end of the game, Carthage outshot the fourth-ranked Maroons 6-4 and generated three corner kicks.
Â
Furmanek tallied one save in 90 minutes of work in net for the Lady Reds.

Carthage will open College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin play on Saturday, October 1 against North Central College (Ill.). Game time from Benedetti-Wehrli Stadium in Naperville, Ill. is set for 1:00 p.m.
