RACINE, Wis. – Cold weather moved the Saturday's action indoors and didn't effect the Carthage College men's tennis team a bit as the Red Men rolled to a pair of wins at the Racine Tennis Club over Illinois Wesleyan University and Lake Forest College.

The two wins improved the Red Men to 13-6 overall in 2016 and 1-0 in the College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin as they took down the Titans 9-0 and the Foresters 7-2.

In the opening match Saturday, Carthage jumped out to a 3-0 lead with a sweep of the doubles action.Â
Pawel Jaworski and
Chris Conley took the were pushed the hardest in an 8-6 decision in the No. 1 doubles match, while
Alex Boomgarden and
Ryan Jump won 8-2 in the No. 2 doubles and
Lukasz Jaworski and
Fordy Leipold shutout their opponents in the No. 3 doubles, 8-0.

The Red Men then cruised in singles competition with Jump, P. Jaworski, Conley, L. Jaworski and
Alex Ferruzzi winning in straight sets in the No. 2 through No. 6 matches respectively, with no only losing more than a two games in a set. Boomgarden capped off the perfect match in the No. 1 singles with a superbreaker win to come from behind after dropping the first set.

The second match of the day was the Red Men once again take a lead following the doubles competition as P. Jaworski and Conley, and Boomgarden and Jump claimed 8-5 victories for Carthage.

After Conley and Ferruzzi won in straight sets to go up 4-1 in the match, the remaining four singles matches all went to superbreakers. Despite dropping the first set in each of their matches, Boomgarden, P. Jaworski and L. Jaworski all fought back from down a set to claim tiebreaker wins and win the match, 7-2.

Next up for the Red Men, Carthage will hit the road to begin a stretch of four consecutive CCIW matchups starting with Augustana College in Rock Island, Illinois on Saturday April 9th at 10:00 AM at the Augustana Lower Campus Courts.
