NAPERVILLE, Ill. – The Carthage College men's tennis team remained perfect in the College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin Saturday with a dominant performance at the North Central College Tennis Courts, defeating the Cardinals 9-0 on brisk afternoon.

With the decisive win, the Red Men improved to 18-6 on year and 5-0 against CCIW opponents. The Cardinals fall to 0-5 in the conference and 10-9 overall.

The Red Men jumped out to a quick 3-0 lead following a sweep of the doubles action byCarthage.Â
Pawel Jaworski and
Chris Conley opened with a win in the one-singles competition over Victor Krueger and Connor Sass [8-4].  Next, the doubles teams of
Alex Boomgarden and
Ryan Jump along with
Lukasz Jaworski and
Fordy Leipold each cruised past their respective opponents 8-3 to complete the sweep of the doubles.

The Red Men were just as impressive in the singles matches.

Alex Ferruzzi led things off for the Red Men with a quick [6-0, 6-2] dismantling of Tyler Bussell in the six singles match followed by P. Jaworski shutting out Aleksandar Vasic in the three singles match [6-0, 6-0] to earn the decisive win to go up 5-0 over the Cardinals for the win.

The straight set wins for the Red Men didn't stop there as
Alex Boomgarden defeated Krueger [6-1, 6-2] in the number-one singles, Jump bounced C. Sass [6-2, 6-0] in the twos, Conley beat Adam Winter [6-2, 6-1], and L. Jaworski completed the sweep 9-0 pummeling with a win over Hayden Sass [6-0, 6-3].

With one match remaining in the CCIW for the Red Men at home against Elmhurst College on Wednesday, April 27th at 3:30 PM, Carthage is looking to secure the number-one seed at the 2016 CCIW Men's Tennis Championship which will take place May 5th-7th at the Centre Court Athletic Club hosted by Wheaton College.
