RACINE, Wis. – The southeast Wisconsin weather once again played havoc on the Carthage College Lady Reds' 2016 spring schedule, moving Sunday's two matches against the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater and Carroll University indoors at the Racine Tennis Club.

After dropping the opening match of the day, to the number-26 team in the country, the Warhawks, the Lady Reds rebounded emphatically with a 8-1 win over the Pioneers to finish 1-1 on the day. The split moved the Lady Reds to 14-7 on the season in dual meets with three remaining before the 2016 College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin Automatic Qualifier Tournament, which is slated at the end of the month.

Ranked 16th in the region, Carthage fell in the opening match to Whitewater, who along with the national ranking are sit sixth in the region, 9-0.

Carthage bounced back in impressive fashion later Sunday with a role reversal, topping Carroll 8-1 in the nightcap.Â

Carthage started with dominant wins in the doubles competition starting with an 8-0 shutout by
Max Mella and
Angelica Emmanouil in the one doubles match.Â
Taylor Bolyard and
Kristen Kalinka along with
Casey Frommer and
Eliza Barter then followed suit winning their the doubles two and three matches 8-2 and 8-1 respectively.

The superb play carried over to the singles competition as the Lady Reds won five of the six matches in straight sets as Mella, Frommer, Emmanouil, Barter and
Natalie Favia won the singles one, two, three, five and six matches respectively.Â
Next up, the Lady Reds hit the road for their final three dual matches beginning with a trip to the Hitters Sportsplex in Middleton, Wisconsin for a meeting with the University of Wisconsin-La Crosse Sunday, April 17th at 6:00 PM.
