RACINE, WIS.—No. 16 University of Wisconsin-Whitewater paid the Carthage College men's tennis team a visit to the Racine Tennis Club on Friday night. The Red Men's quest in building a win streak wasn't an easy one.
Â
The Warhawks held an 8-4 overall record prior to their meeting with the Red Men, but numbers are deceiving in this situation. Three-of-four Warhawk losses on the season came against NCAA Division I competition. Their only defeat against an NCAA Division III institution came in an 8-1 decision against University of Chicago on February 6.
Â
The Red Men couldn't overcome the odds in an 8-1 loss to UW-Whitewater. Carthage falls to 6-5, 0-0 CCIW while the Warhawks improve to 9-4, 0-0 WIAC.

UW-Whitewater 8, Carthage 1
Â
A pair of nail-biters took place in doubles play. The Red Men came up on top in one of those sets when the
Alex Boomgarden/
Ryan Jump tandem registered an 8-6 advantage over Scott Butler/Rithwik Rajshekhar Raman.
Â
Pawel Jaworski/
Chris Conley dropped an 8-6 decision to Jake Humphreys/Michael Treis.
Â
That was all the Red Men mustered in the match as #16 UW-Whitewater swept singles play to secure an 8-1 victory.
Â
Carthage will return to action on Sunday, March 13 against UW-Oshkosh at the Racine Tennis Club. The first serve is slated for 4:00 p.m.
